Making a graceful exit

Nanny fam is going from one kid to two. Mom is due in January. I'm a nanny/house assistant so I do all the grocery orders, family laundry, general straightening up, etc. I work about 60 hours a week now and I'm exhausted with one kid and really don't want to continue on with kiddo two. They work from home as well and as Kid One gets older it's getting harder to see her parents but not be able to play with them. Adding a second kid will make it worse I'm afraid. MB is planning to take 5 months mat leave.

They're an awesome family but I need to either cut my hours so I have energy to do a good job with both kids or I need to leave entirely. How should I time letting them know my thoughts?

Get your resume in order and your care.com posting, make sure you have enough in the bank to cover lost wages for two months, and then talk to them. Just say what you have said here.

This is advice I would give to any nanny/housekeeper btw. Always be prepared before you bring anything up with your employer.

have them hire a housekeeper and just be a nanny to the two kids, because two kids plus the extra work is a bit much.

October/November let them know you will need to make changes to the schedule: infant with mom during maternity leave, toddler out of the house except naps and lunch, infant will be on toddler's schedule when you start caring for her, and all household tasks will be on an if-there-is-time basis during toddler naps.
