Yes, you always wash the baby's bottom when he/she poops. No, you should not have to be told to do so. |

| You thoroughly clean with wet wipes. Sometimes I need to use lots of wipes. You should not need to do a bath. |

Are you Muslim? The Muslim families i have worked for ( I'm Muslim too), have asked that I was the babies bottom woth water after wipes. When they get older they use the lota.
The Non- Muslim families just want you to use wipes. I never had an issue. It's cleaner anyways. |

| Not wash the babies bottom (unless he/she had a blow out). I use enough wipes to make sure the are is clean. If the child is proned to diaper rash after bowl movements, then use diaper cream. But, if they want you to give the baby a bath, then you give the baby a bath (just make it quick). |

I've worked with several families (only one was Muslim) who preferred that the nanny use a wet washcloth every time. In two cases, the child's bowel movements were always very acidic, so it was the only way to prevent diaper rash (cream didn't help enough). In another case, I don't remember the child having a semi-solid stool until over 8 months old, so the washcloth was to make sure that there wasn't any slime hiding anywhere.
There are many reasons that a family may prefer it, and I actually prefer it as well. I am happy to pack several washcloths in individual bags, wet them in a sink, close them up to throw in the diaper bag and throw them straight into the washer when we get back to the house. |

| We are Eastern European and we and the nanny (also Eastern European) wash baby bottom with water after poops. In the sink or tub. After a quick wipe. . Healthier and easier to get it all clean. She eats a lot of veggies so the poops are not super solid. I've done it since she was born. Baby doesn't mind now at 18 months. |

| I work for an Italian family, they asked me to wash (water and soap) their daughter's bottom everytime she pooped. I had no problem doing it. I will first wipe her bottom and then wash it. |

Washing with soap and rinsing under water gets off much more residue than a wipe alone. Plus even a water wipe contains preservatives. I don't do it but I work with a Muslim nanny who always does. |
