Need to write an email to MB telling her that I have had enough of her constantly switching my hours, telling me I am like family and then not paying me the correct amount (If I am needed for three days she will only pay me for two if I am not needed on the third.) and generally treating me like I am not really appreciated. After yesterday's event where she only paid me for a day when I was needed for two, I am not happy at all. Please give me some ideas. It doesn't seem to cross her mind that she is being unfair. |
Did you actually work the two days?
Make this a professional email. Do not create a run-on sentence like this one. Instead write something like, Dear MB, You know I love [DC's name] and working with your family. I also appreciate that you consider me like family. However, in order to continue working for you, I need to be able to count on my income, and have a more regular schedule. I hope we will be able to come to an agreement, but I am unable to budget my money or my time, or pick up other work in my off hours in the current situation. I need 1. a consistent schedule [or a firm schedule x# of days/weeks in advance] 2. to be paid for all hours scheduled, even if you decide you don't need me or come home early. I have set that time aside, and cannot find other work to fill it. It's unclear to me if this is supposed to be a full or part time job, if you ever had an agreed-upon schedule or a written contract. All of those details will impact how you should proceed. You also need to ask yourself what you will do if she refuses, or agrees, but then doesn't actually change her behavior. |
Why are you putting this in an email? You should tell her when you receive the money that it is short __ amount because you worked another day. Tell her in person that you need a firm schedule each week in order to make plans for the hours you don't work for her. Start looking for another job since this one won't end well. |
Start looking for a new job now because she is not going to pay you for time scheduled if she does not use you. In your next job you insist on guaranteed hours and pay. |
