My NF family keep cancelling on me all the time lately. One of the parents especially MB always seems to be ill and takes a lot of time off work and also DB keeps arriving home really early from work. They pay me still but not as much as if I had done a full shift.
It is getting more then frustrating now. I feel they don't really need me even though they say they really depend on me. I am also bored as they cancel so often and it leaves me with nothing to do. Should I say something? I feel like they are biding their time until they tell me I am no longer needed.

| So you're angry at yourself for not getting guaranteed hours? |
| I do have guaranteed hours. Three full days a week . But yes, should have said from the beginning that they must pay me in full if they are going to cancel. |
Wait - so you are getting paid for three full days a week even though you aren't working? I don't understand you post. |
Guaranteed hours does mean that they have to pay you even when they cancel. |
| They pay me but not full amount |
You don't have guaranteed hours. You have a schedule. "Guaranteed hours" means that they pay you for all the hours they've "guaranteed" even if they cancel on you. |
Do you have a written contract? If so, take them to Small Claims Court. |
| You don't have guaranteed hours for all of your scheduled hours, OP. I would explain to your employers that you cannot afford to lose work like this. Be open to finding a new position as it sounds like they don't need you as much as they used to (which is natural and going to happen with every nanny job). |
Written contracts by a Nanny & her employers will not have a foot to stand on in any court of law. *Oops, I meant a LEG. Sorry. A Nanny cannot sue her employers to be financially compensated for hours she didn't work no matter if she was promised the moon & stars. She could only sue for hours worked, then not paid for. I still cannot believe people are advising such ill-advised advice. Show us a precedent where a Nanny successfully sued her employers for not getting the hours she was told and I will eat crow. OP: I strongly suggest you let your employers know that you need more hours in order to make ends meet or you will have no other option but to find another job w/regular hours set. Good luck! |
| Families need to be honest and fair and not drag a nanny along like this when she isn't really needed. It isn't right and very unfair on the nanny. |

Get another job BEFORE they let you go. NOW. |
I can not with this. All credibility is lost... |
Seriously!
