Part-time help in the mornings RSS feed

My husband may be starting a new job later this summer around the same time we start our two year old in daycare. How difficult is it to find someone for just a couple hours each morning for coverage to get our little one ready and do drop off? Anyone have experience doing this or advice on how to go about finding someone? TIA!

College student is your best bet or a mom with her own kid who only wants to work part time.

So you both have to leave early and you don't want to get your kid up and out the door is that right?

You could probably find someone to do a couple of hours a week if you pay well for those 2 hours.

Pay for 4 hours a day, have them do the morning with your child and then a couple of hours of housework (meal prep, laundry, errands). For 20 hours a week, you'll definitely find someone, and make your life much easier at the same time.

Thanks for the feedback! I think we could swing 4 hours per day and benefit from the extra help around the house. Any advice on the best way to find someone- using a service like Care.com or this website??

I've had luck with Care and here. Also U of MD job board and Craigslist. I have a friend who always posts at AU. Also, ask around!

You mean housekeeping when you say "extra help around the house"? There is nothing wrong with that but this is a nanny forum. You might be looking for a housekeeper who babysits.

Our nanny found a position like this once our kids started school. The other family knows that we come first in the event that a kid is sick and we need our nanny for the full day, but they are ok with this. I put together a calendar so everyone would know when the school had holidays that we'd need full-day care for, and also noted the days that we planned to take vacations, etc. If you are willing to be flexible, you might be able to find something like this. I believe she advertised for it on care and maybe sittercity.
