Nanny gives DS really loud toys RSS feed

Anonymous
Our nanny just gave our son a police squad car with no volume control on it to turn it down. It sounds like there is an actual police chase going on downstairs in the house.

I work from home. I have conference calls during the day.

I feel terrible - I know the nanny meant well - but I cannot have this toy around during the day.

I have to say something and I feel like a huge bitch. Ugh.

Maybe it's her way of saying, she doesn't like you working
from home.

Yeah, it's been 2.5 years though and it's not changing.

Haha, PP. I know that was meant to be serious but that did make me laugh. I agree it could be a very passive way of saying she doesn't like you working from home but I doubt it.

Try-

'Suzie, I really appreciate how well you care for Larlo and the play opportunities you give him, however, the police car toy is really noisy and distracts me from work. Could I ask that he uses the toy only (Apply a time you wouldn't mind him using it at) Once again, I really appreciate all you do for him and for us as a family. '

Remove the batteries. As simple as that.

She's not that smart, OP. Hope she's at least a good bargain on your spread sheet.

I took my son to a sensory class and the teacher explained how loud noises and toys are good for children. Otherwise the child is overly sensitive in the outside world (my older DS who is afraid something might be loud so he walks around with his hands over his ears a lot).

Batteries or put tape on the speaker.

Is he autistic? Have you checked?

No, he is not autistic - I am actually an autism specialist. He is just very sensitive to loud, jarring noises. We have a very quiet and peaceful home.
