Is Good Friday or any other days generally given off for Easter (Sunday is a given)? Nanny is religious. We have to work but want to be sensitive as well.
Thanks! |

I've never received Good Friday,, I think most
nannies don't get it as a holiday. If you are able to accommodate it, then I'm sure that will go a long way to build goodwill with your nanny. |
| It's not a holiday for me so therefore not for the nanny. I do often get to leave work early though so she is free to go as soon as I get home - which usually means 2-3 hours early. |
| I'm off Good Friday and Easter Monday. |
| Time off around easter is not typical. If it was important to the employee, I would expect her to request the day off. |
| I give my nanny a choice of one of the Jewish holidays or Good Friday off as a paid holiday. |
| Any religious nanny should use her personal days/paid time off for the religious holidays she wants to observe. Employers should be notified well in advance. |
| I give my nanny 5 days of sick or personal leave (+ 2 weeks vacation; 1 at her election, 1 at ours + federal holidays). I make it clear she can use the 5 personal days for illness or appointments (medical or otherwise) or for any holidays she celebrates but doesn't have off (including her birthday). I ask her to give me at least 2 weeks' notice if it's a pre-planned day off. |
| I asked my nanny if she would rather have Good Friday or Easter Monday off. It was an added bonus day in addition to the holidays we give (and get) off. Plus, she got some hours off for Passover since we didn't need her. |
