| I'll be out of town for work for a few days at a time next month and DH will be handling mornings and evenings with both of our girls (the oldest is almost 4 and the baby is 7 mos). We're planning to bring over a lovely neighbor girl in the evenings to help occupy our older daughter while DH gets the baby ready for bed. She'd be helping for about an hour. I have no idea what the appropriate compensation would be for this (other than generally wanting to be generous to her). Would be grateful for any thoughts! |
| Ask the neighbor. |
| How old is she? |
| 20 bucks |
| Assuming she is a teen I would say $10 an hour. If she goes over the hour round up. |
| Thanks, all. She's 13 or 14. |
|
To make it worth her while, plus if she shows up on time & is very reliable, I would likely offer her fifteen for the hour plus a five dollar tip.
Teens like to earn a few extra dollars since the things they are now into are so expensive! |

I pay $8-9/hr for that age to watch/play with my kids when I am home.
I pay $10/hr for a 15-16 yr old to babysit alone, and $12/hr for a 17 year old babysitter. |
| as long as it effectively takes her no time to get there, I would say $10 each time she comes is appropriate. |
