Rules for sending sick child in nanny share? RSS feed

Anonymous
My 15 MO just started going to a nanny share with one other child (14 MO). What is the etiquette when your child is sick--is it different from daycare? E.g., DC woke up congested and with a thick runny nose, but no fever and otherwise happy. Should I send? I think this would be fine at a daycare, but here, there's only one other child, so it's pretty obvious if the other child gets sick as a result!

I think you need to talk to the other Mom to establish rules. I personally would be ok with a runny nose/cold. I would not be ok with fever, vomiting, HFM etc

Talk with the other mother, OP. There are no set rules for nanny shares.

I would be fine with a cold (just like daycare). But be prepared to pick up your child today if a fever develops.

Why your ou not ask your nanny share?

OP here, thank you! I'll ask the other family.

Our rules are no fever, no throwing up, and no thick discharge; clear runny nose is fine.

You couldn't figure this out on your own? Common sense is a wonderful gift and given to every single one of us. Use yours!
