Mb is a teacher. They were misleading in our interviews. We didn't sign a contract. Should I look for something better? Been with them 4 months and starting to feel resentful. They are a great family otherwise.

Yes, start to look for another position and NEVER enter into business agreement without a contract (even a "memo of understanding" is good) and learn to negotiate!

I would take this as a good lesson as to why you always want a contract.

Outline your responsibilities and benefits. There can be no miscommunication if it's all on paper and approved by all parties.

or before you quit, say you want to sit down and write out a mutually agreeable contract. Say too many things were left unsaid, and you need clarity

Agree. It's not easy to find an otherwise great family

Since it's just been 4 months working with them, sit down and talk about all these issues. If it is not going anywhere then find a job and then give them 2 week notice or less if you don't need them as your references.
