I am pretty sre you can't just 'let her go' with no notice. Definitely need to do some form of redundancy pay. Even if you don't have a contract with her, it is the right thing to do. She must be really panicking about her finances right now. |
We had just given her a $1,500 bonus for Christmas. We do not see the need to give her more. We are now just worried about if she does file what will happen. |

Yes, that is what unemployment is for. If you are no longer employing anyone, it means nothing for you as long as you have been paying unemployment insurance. If you are still employing someone, it means an increase in your monthly unemployment insurance rate for some time period related to how much she receives. |
