Christmas/New years Eve paid holidays on Saturday RSS feed

I've never had this happen before with a non federal holiday. Obviously, with Christmas and new years being on Sundays this year, both following Mondays will be the observations of said holidays. In our contract we have the eve's listed as paid holidays, does nanny get the Fridays off and paid as well, since they are on Saturday?

If you have both Eves listed as paid holidays, then yes.

I only give Xmas Eve, not New Year's Eve, but I gave my nanny the option of either Fri and Mon or Mon and Tues. My husband could take off either Fri or Tues so it didn't matter to us. She chose Mon/Tues.

I don't get any extra days or paid for any holiday that falls on a day when I am not working.

Well you should, you are getting jipped.

That's too bad. Perhaps you should try to negotiate for them the next time around. They're a pretty standard part of most nanny jobs.
