Ok I took a temp job in between me looking for a new full-time position. One of the nanny agency that I applied for ended up calling me that they have a temp job for a couple of weeks. While the main nanny is out of the country. I took the position for way less then I would make. (I will discuss about the pay on another post)
The reason why I said nanny agency is a scam is because the mom that I was working with really likes me. She told me that she like me because I'm a mother. That I have been with previous families for a long time. The longest I have been with a family is six years. she also said that she likes that I have worked in private schools. All these things I told her, when I interviewed with her. she told me that the only reason why she goes with nanny agency is because they do the work for her, like checking references, background check etc. In my mind I am like WHAT.... The nanny agency that sent me never did none of that. I would have known. Not only did they not do their job. I never met anyone from that agency... I don even know where their office is located. So parents make your your nanny agency is doing their job. They are collecting money for no reason. Money that you could have easily given to your nanny, that is working hard to take care of your children.. I have learned a lot about two nanny agency that I applied for. I will make more post about it. Nannies have you had this kind of experiences? Parents do you prefer nanny agency? |

You know, you now have a responsibility to let us know the specific agency that did this.
If you do not, then they will just continue lying to parents while simultaneously ca$hing in. |
| Wow. I love in Cincinnati, and I use babysitease for this type of thing. I am sure that they do background checks and interview their sitters. |
| Did you tell this mother that they didn't do any of that? |
| OP here, no I didn't want her to worry or to be upset.. I took her child to storytime and we went out for two hours. In her mind she thinks she got a nanny from agency, agency that didn't do a background check on me. What if I was a crazy person... thank God I'm not. I can't believe this agency. |
| Shit I know of an AP who had a criminal record that was somehow missed by whoever does that vetting. It's scary out there. |
| Op here, I told the mom, she was upset. she said she will ask the main nanny if she experienced the samething. She thanked me for tell her. |
| which agency OP? |
| Yeah I need to know if it's the agency I pay a retainer and a per job fee to. |

I am a former agency owner, and it infuriates me to hear stories like this... it makes me want to get back into the business. I did a thorough job checking candidates' references and doing background checks. Anything less is unfathomable to me when parents are using the agency with the assumption that the agency is doing the legwork for them, and doing a better job than they could on their own.
I have had other agencies call me for reference checks and was appalled at the lack of questions they asked me. There are really good agencies out there, who have solid ethics and truly do care. Just so you all don't give up hope completely. |
| This post helps no one unless OP tells us the name of the agency. |
| I call troll |
|
OP, not trying to be snarky but it really isn't right for you to bring this story up yet decline to name which agency it is.
I rarely say this, but I now think this whole post was concocted. Good story bro. |

I'm a nanny and have had similar experiences. With 2 companies not doing background checks and so forth.

How do you know whether they completed the checks or not? |
