This is so sad. Thank goodness the family had a nanny cam set up:

What makes anyone believe this woman is a nanny?
She's not. |
| The parents who let the illegal from Nigeria move-in and have full responsibility of their baby should also be charged for their crimes. Why not? They probably weren't paying the woman anything either. |
| You know what so sad. Is that this family allowed this lady to watch their child knowing she had no US experience. This type of feeding is very common from where she is from... In fact I have seen it before, and I was like what is she doing... There are things that people from different countries do to take care of a child.. not saying it's the right way for caring for a child.. but saying that it's the way they have been thought by generation of mothers. This is why if you can't afford a professional nanny, you should get someone like a retired grandma, or a family member. I am sure this family was paying her $100 a week to watch her child. Not much. what people need to know she would have feed her grandchild the same way. I am sure this was an accident. and I blame both the nanny and parents. |
| they could get a nanny cam, but not a professional nanny?? To all parents pay your nanny well. and get a professional one. that way you can be sure she loves what she is doing. not everyone can take care of a child. not everyone is fit to be a mother. make sure your nanny loves what she does and that she has a passion for her work. |
| The parents are equally as guilty because they CHOSE to hire this woman. They should also be charged and tried. |
| Yes, parent should be REQUIRED to do their due diligence before leaving their child with a no-references stranger. |
Do you have a link that this is normal in other countries? If there was a nipple on the bottle, which there was, it should be common knowledge you use that nipple to feed the baby. |
|
I've used up my WaPo articles this month, could someone summarize for me please?
How very sad for the baby.
|
I don't have a link.. I know because my husband is from the same country. like I said I have seen it before, not saying it's right. But it is common. |
Here is a different article that you should be able to access: http://www.theroot.com/articles/news/2016/10/nanny-force-fed-baby-until-infant-died/ |
Well, it has been stated that was the cause of death, so either there is something inherently wrong with the feeding method, or the "nanny" was negligent in how she did it. Thank goodness it's all on tape so what she did cannot be disputed. |
| Gentle force feeding, for the lack of a better expression, is common in many countries, to a certain extent anyway. But what this woman did was not feeding the baby when she wasn't hungry, but essentially making her choke and then instead of helping her, continue to pour water down her throat. I can't imagine she did it out of malice, but this kind of disregard to the child she was watching is just mind boggling. What a horrible situation for all involved. |
| She is an monster... |
But she is not a nanny. Not in the most remote stretch of the word. OP, tell us why you felt it was important to describe this person as an illegal immigrant in your header? |
