If you travel a lot during the year without your nanny, how do you structure pay? Do you pay for every week you are gone? 2 of them? 4?
Thank you. |
We have a contract which gives the nanny 2 weeks vacation (one of her choice) and one concurrent with ours. If we travel outside of that time we just pay her for 40 hrs. Just because we decided to go on vacations doesn't mean she doesnt have bills to pay. |
I meant pay for 40 hrs every week we are gone. |
This is what I thought, thank you. Seems unfair not to pay as bills are consistent and unfortunately don't take a break. |
Yes, we pay her normal weekly pay. This is called "guaranteed hours," and the idea is that she won't quit on you! |
Yep - two weeks vacation, one concurrent with ours and we pay her for any other times we're gone and don't need her.
Guaranteed hours. |
Thank you everyone. Yes, guaranteed hours, that's the term I was looking for. |
usually you have "guaranteed pay" and that could be 25, 30 , 40 hours a week. so if you are taking your 3rd or 5th or 8th vacation week of the year, if it is a whole week you owe the guaranteed pay figure. think of it as a retainer. think of it as "nanny needs the hours and would have taken a job that pays 30 hours/week for 52 weeks a year and not a wild card job paying 44 weeks or 48 or 50....." |
