Nannies - what would you like to receive. If cash, how much? A week's pay? 2 weeks?
MB's - what have you given that your nanny liked? Thank you. |
| A week's pay per year of work is standard. Cash is king. |
| Bonus is always nice, but also a heartfelt card. |
So 5 years = 5 weeks? Do people really do that much?? That's a ton of money for me. |
|
OP, if your nanny has worked with you for 5 years and you are not mega-wealthy, then she knows that by now. Give what you can reasonably afford (what do you normally give as a holiday or annual review bonus if you give those? Give that plus a little more if you can).
And keep in mind that a nice card, especially one made with the kids is very meaningful |
No, people don't do that. For that kind of tenure I do think a week or two would be lovely (and very generous) but I do not think it's the norm at all. |
Thank you very much. I was freaking out about that much. I usually give a week at the holidays so maybe I'll bump it up a bit more. |
She reared your children for you, kept them safe, taught them, gave you peace of mind and you are so cheap and unappreciative you cannot give her a decent parting gift? Personally, For five years, I would give her six months pay! I would do without something for myself rather than shortchange the person who did so much for me. FWIW, I am not a Nanny. |
Must be nice to be able give your nanny $25000. I would give mine $1,000,000 - she's worth it, but I don't have it to give. |
No, you wouldn't. You won't even give her 5 weeks reverence bonus. |
|
A weeks pay would be great.
Two weeks worth of pay would just be awesome!!
To sweeten the pot, perhaps a homemade "Thank You" card from your child(ren) along w/a picture of them. If she is continuing on as a Nanny, a glowing letter of recommendation would be the frosting on the cake! |
|
I disagree that you should pay her a weeks worth of pay for every single year.
I highly doubt any nanny out there would expect such a gift. That's like purchasing her a brand-new car. Nice dream, but no one does or expects this. |
| We always gave a small cash bonus ($100-200) and a heartfelt card with a picture of her and the kids. |
| Yes, I like cash, but I would love a great reference. |
To chip,I got always more ,two weeks paid. |
