Nanny who I employed for two weeks filed for unemployment RSS feed

Anonymous
We hired a nanny who was not the right fit for our family, and let her go after two weeks. This was last August. We have just received a notice from Maryland that she has filed for unemployment.

A few questions:
-Has this happened to any of you?
-If so, how much did your tax rate go up the following year? Does it matter she only worked for us for two weeks (regarding impact on our tax rate?)
-Anything else I should know?

Don't worry about it. She'll get like 24 cents from you since it was such a short time. She's required by law to list every single place she's worked for the last 18 months. It won't really affect you.

For unemployment benefits ONLY the first four quarters of the last Ifive are counted. Quarters are Jan, Feb, Mar. is 1st quarter, and so on.

I worked for a family for three months (it was a temp job) and then filed for unemployment, I didn't know it affected them? I got just over $300 every two weeks for a couple of months.
