We hired a nanny who was not the right fit for our family, and let her go after two weeks. This was last August. We have just received a notice from Maryland that she has filed for unemployment.
A few questions: -Has this happened to any of you? -If so, how much did your tax rate go up the following year? Does it matter she only worked for us for two weeks (regarding impact on our tax rate?) -Anything else I should know? |
Don't worry about it. She'll get like 24 cents from you since it was such a short time. She's required by law to list every single place she's worked for the last 18 months. It won't really affect you. |
For unemployment benefits ONLY the first four quarters of the last Ifive are counted. Quarters are Jan, Feb, Mar. is 1st quarter, and so on. |
I worked for a family for three months (it was a temp job) and then filed for unemployment, I didn't know it affected them? I got just over $300 every two weeks for a couple of months. |
