We recently started looking in hiring a nanny (had an AP for 2 years) and have had quite a few really young applicants (18-19). So far we are only looking through word of mouth. What is the age of your nanny? We are hoping to get someone in their mid 20's.

I agree.
An older nanny brings so much more to the table. Life experience, wisdom + a lot of common sense as well. Plus mature nannies usually take their jobs more seriously as they do not have parents who are still financially assisting them. And older nannies do not tend to view their cell phones as fifth limbs. |
I think he was 25 when he started with us? I remember it was a year or two within my age and I was 26 when my first was born.
Amy 60 years older, she's is wonderful.
She's 34, just a year younger than we are. It's been a perfect fit since our first child was 3 months old (four years ago) as we have a lot in common and consider her an extended family member now.
I am 28, started with this family at 25. I think the ideal age is 24-40ish. I feel like I had way more experience, and patients to offer my current family. Nannies in this age range are also charging more since they have been working for at least 3-5 years.

Our first nanny was late 20s and was kind of a disaster but I don't think that was age-related.
Second was mid-30s and was great. Had years of experience and worked for us for a few years. Third and final nanny is in her mid-fifties. Tons of experience, really energetic, and since she raised her own kids as a working parent I feel like she totally "gets" it and has made our lives so much easier. I don't then there's a truly ideal age. There are lazy 25 year olds, there are less experienced 40 year olds. |
I'm 30 and MB is 40. She stays home and I think we work well together. Been with the family 2 years.
25 when she started with us now she's 27.
55. She's a young grandma. We love her. She is energetic, takes the baby for several walks a day, spends time on the floor with her and is just super kind. Isnt on her cell unless baby is napping and she still gets laundry and a ton of other stuff done.
56, has been with us for 4 years. Part of our family now.
My is 63 ,she is a lovely nanny.
41. She has a grown daughter and an older child. Very mature and like another poster, doesn't view her phone as an appendage.
How old are your children, OP? |
45. It's a great set up. She is married/settled in her last life.
