Moving to daycare and nanny RSS feed

This week I told our nanny (we are in a share) that we will probably start day care this fall/winter. She seemed a little upset and I don't blame her, and I just feel really bad. Our DD will be two and she loves the nanny, but I think she is ready for day care and it's a little cheaper. Any advice how I can not feel bad and somehow comfort the nanny, other than offer to help her find a new position or family?

You say your child loves her nanny. How do you plan to maintain this important bond?

Offer her weekend babysitting gigs so that she can continue her relationship with your daughter.

Also.....if you have any friends, colleagues + neighbors in need of childcare promise to spread good word about her.

Offer to give her an excellent glowing reference as well as offer a parting gift for her to show your thanks for her wonderful service.

Hope this helps!

What are you going to do when day care is closed or your kid is sick. You have burned your bridge.
