| For a part-time nanny (20-25 hours per week) what is the standard vacation/sick time/paid time off per year? Also, are holidays paid for part-time nannies? Not sure what is standard - TIA! |

When I had a part time nanny, I just prorated the benefits. So, my current nanny gets 12 days of PTO, earned at 1 day per month. My half-time household assistant gets the same, but her "day" is 4 hours, while the nanny's is 8 hours.
Both have 8 paid holiday days. If your PT nanny will work less than 5 days a week, and one of those days is Monday, decide in advance which holidays you will give. For example, for a M/W/F nanny, I would definitely give Memorial Day, Labor Day, day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas, New Year's, and July 4 if they fall on her work day only, but possibly not MLK, Jr. Day and definitely not Columbus Day. Holidays can be sticky with part time because in certain years, basically every major holiday could fall on a work day. |
