Experience with nanny bringing her own child RSS feed

I'm looking for experiences with nanny bringing her own child along. How did that work for you? Also, did you reduce the hourly rate and if so, by how much? Thanks.

How old is your child(ren) and is the nanny's child close to the same age?

How will it be handled if you want your child to enroll in some type of class (dance, gymnastics, music, etc.?)
Nanny will also have to bring her child along; will you pay for Nanny's child to also enroll in the class?

Our nanny brought her 10 year old many days last summer. Our kids were 2 and 10 months. The kid seemed a bit bored, but she helped her Mom out too. Because of the age difference we didn't have the issues with classes. We certainly didn't change her pay. She still has bills to pay. But her kid was a lot older and more independent.

My nanny did this too and same age as pp. She used to joke it was training her kid as babysitter and my DC was getting 2 for the price of 1

We tried it out with my infant twins and the nanny's toddler. Her DH ended up leaving work to pick up their daughter because she was constantly competing with the babies for her mother's attention. As other pps have said, it really depends on the age difference and whether the nanny's child is independent or not.
