How much should I offer for a full day to watch a 7 year old? RSS feed

I have a 7 year old and was going to pay someone to watch my kid. The lady will have her own 2 kids at home. How much should I offer her given it will be all day, for 10 hours, just for a day of two while my child is between school and camp.

Simply ask her what her hourly rate would be. Maybe she wants to do it for free. Who knows until you ask her?

I agree, it's an hourly rate that depends on where you live. I pay $16/hour for a teenager and $21/hour for a nanny, but that's for 2 kids.

100 per day seems fair

I think that's a good number also. It's enough to mean something and still a good deal.

It sounds like your daughter will go to this woman's house. Which is more of a home day care type of arrangement. $10 an hour maybe. If the mom wants to take the kids somewhere fun, like out for ice cream or something, cover your daughter's expenses in relation to the activity.

You need to agree on an hourly rate.

I would offer between $10-12/HR.

If it's a friend and just a couple of days, I would do a babysitting swap. Take her kids one Saturday and a couple of Friday nights or something.

Will you do this, OP?

$100 a day in cash for a nice, easy kid. Go higher if your kid requires more attention or has to be given medication.

If you ar going to do a daily rate, then $75 a day is sufficient. A 7 yr old requires no were near the care of a younger child and the rates usually reflect that. Even $75 is generous.

Is that all you charge?
