Nannys how much would you charge? RSS feed

Hi everybody I have a quick question. How much would you charge this family:
4 children, living in a wealthy area of NY state,
Doing kids laundry for 7 days (work only 4 of them)
Making big dinners for family that take a good hour to cook, salads, veggies, BBQ ...
Making kids lunches for the next day (I only work as part time in the afternoon)
Driving them around
Play dates at the house often, where there are more than 4 kids
Shopping for family, grocery shopping, get cars cleaned,
Personal assisting at home with decorations and stuff at home...
And so much more.
Dad works away from home, mom works from home most days, does nothing.
Supposed to be a part time after school job, but yeah, it sounds like a full time job.
So how much would be appropriate to charge?
Thank you! Btw I'm quitting this job, was just wondering what other people say.
Please include whether what you would charge is before or after tax.

Why would you care if you're quitting this job? I would charge $25 -30 pre-tax.

Are we talking like, Scarsdale or UES? Or Brooklyn?

Hi I'm the OP.
I'm asking cause I would like to know if I'm not being fair,
and I'm quitting this job not just because of the money,
but there are many bad things happening lately haha.

It's upper westchester. Is anything below $20 cash fair?
For basically being a maid lol. Sorry for this stupid question.
Sometimes it feels good to see what other nannies/housekeepers
say.

Thank you very much!

That job sounds demoralizing.
No money would be enough.

I'm not in DC so can't really offer a sum, but it would definitely be upper side. And this job sounds awful unless you really love the kids and parents. How long have you been with them?

I would charge $24/hour for the nanny work, and an additional $5/hour for every additional job they have me doing - laundress, chef, personal assistant, and decorator. Plus $10/hour for the stress factor alone.

So $54/hour.

Obviously that amount is not likely to fly, but I would charge around $32/hour.

MB here. I work part time with 4 kids and you just described my home life. I don't blame you for quitting. It's my own family, and I feel like quitting sometimes. I completely understand why women continue to stay at home after the kids go to school. It really can be a full time job.

If I were in your shoes, I would want to be paid enough that I didn't have to so anything else to support myself and basically treat it like a full time job.
