Could you suggest a reasonable price range for afterschool sitter 3-6pm? Do you still pay when you are on vacation or winter/summer break? |
$15-$20 for a sitter, not a professional nanny |
If don't want her to have a new job when you need her, yes you pay her when you don't need her. Or maybe her bills take a vacation when you do? |
Thats the difference between a job and career. Can't expect people to take care of you and pay your bills when you didn't go to school and babysit the kids. |
Plus it's a part time job. Your bills don't affect the pay rate of a part time job. |
You can $15/ hour if they are only sitting there making sure the kids do their homework, no trouble. If they have more of a housekeeper role, with cooking dinner, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping before they show up then it'd be $18-25/ hour. If paying that much you should have high expectations for them and the goal is to make your lives easier, not harder. |
Does HS get out before or after Elem where you are?
HS in Moco gets out first so we hired a HS student to watch DD, She lives in our neighborhood and comes on the days we both work ( only 10 days a month). We pay her $10 an hour for hours a day and pay her every 2 weeks. If we dont need her on a scheduled day then we pay her anyway, she has a calendar with the days we need her blocked off for us. So I think we are obliged to pay her for those days for being available. We don't pay her when we are away on vacation or when she is on vacation. |
