How do you handle sick days if you hire a sham w/ a baby? RSS feed

I'm a sahm mom and I have another family interested in hiring me but they are concerned about sick days. Any suggestions of how I can handle this? I would be willing to hire a babysitter and still work or my husband could work from home those days.

Is their concern you being sick or your baby being sick? What about if their kid is sick?

Shares do different things. Some still send the kids if sick, since that's an advantage to nanny care, and the nanny just does a lot of hand washing and tries not to spread anything. Some do "daycare rules" about illness (24 hours fever free, no vomiting or diarrhea). Some come up with a hybrid policy (no stomach illness, colds ok, teething fevers ok, whatever).

If it's about what you will do if you are sick, most nannies have sick days, and it's up to the parents to find backup care. If you also wouldn't want to watch their kid if your kid was sick, that's a different story, and it would probably be on you to find backup.
