Live on Capitol Hill and we're approaching a year with our nanny, who we're happy with. She watches two kids from two families full time during the week. What is a typical raise for a Nanny after a year in this area? I was thinking $1/hour between the two families (50 cents each) -- so from 22/hour to 23/hour. Is that in line with the norm? |
There is no "typical" in the nanny world, only random opinions. I'd think you'd each add on a dollar if she wants to stay another year.
For me, it's usually a better financial gain to move onto a new job, rather than stay with an old job. |
$1 an hour extra |
Each family |
A dollar per family is insane. 50 cents each is awesome. She's already getting on the higher end of a share rate. |
As a nanny if I EVER heard the word "cents" when discussing a raise I would quit immediately. Dollars only hun. And $1 ain't gonna cut it. |
+1,000,000 |
Really? This is not in line with anything I have heard. Our nanny is making $22/hr between two families. We are thinking of raising it to $23. From the research I have done, the typical range for 2 kids is 21-23. I haven't heard of anyone making more than $24. If one dollar an hour doesn't cut it, you are suggesting we pay her $26+ / hour? I want to be fair and recognize her work but that seems out of line from what I have heard. Can you explain? |
The best explanation I can give you, I'm making $25/hr not in a share. So, yea $26 sounds good, your nanny is probably looking for better offers every week anyways. |
Yeah, we went from $27/hour to $28/hour for our wonderful nanny the first year. And intend to keep doing that each and every year! |
That is fine for your nanny share, she is already paid more than market for a nanny share of only two kids. Several in our DC neighborhood make that much for 4 kids/babies. |
I guess if you live in SE. |
Where is your "research"? There is no verified research, so please stop your nonsense. |
