Fantastic conference, great programming and networking with other nannies who "get" my work environment. Positive, supportive and uplifting.
For the doubters out there, visit their Facebook page for highlights https://www.facebook.com/InternationalNannyAssociation/ , or check out this video they published yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KOfa-vFC4M&feature=share More info on programming: http://nanny.org/annual-conference/2016-annual-conference/ If you didn't go you missed a great event. I know I walked away with more tools in my tool box to help me do a great job with my NK and MB and DB. |
| Interesting, how much does it cost to attend? |
| Any talk of advocating for nannies? That's what would really improve not just your environment, but for all of us... and ultimately for our charges, no? |
|
Did you obtain a membership?
I also am curious how much it all cost. If a nanny does receive membership, I wonder if adding it to her resume is an asset. Does anyone know? Thx.
|
Not OP, but I also attended and had a great time. This was my second conference and I'll definitely be going again. Individual Membership is $45/year. Conference cost is $295 for early bird and $395 for regular for members. Non members I believe add $100 to both of those. Conference registration includes breakfast and lunch both days, which for anyone who has planned an event at a hotel knows is a huge part of the cost. |
| What percent of the board are nannies at the "International Association of Nannies"? |
No idea. Haven't ever heard of that group. Are they referred to as the IAN? |
Did you miss the title of this thread, Bozo? INA, International Nanny Association, so called. |
| Not the OP or PP, but the new board was just installed at conference. There are 12 total members, 6 are either Nanny/NCS or former Nanny NCS. The other 6 are agency owners. The board is elected from the membership. |
|
Did anyone ask or address if nannies can be on the APNA board or even go to their Conference? I think what people are wanting is for agencies to at least get off the INA board, let that be for nannies only. Nannies are not hating on INA but would like the concern of the agency hold on the INA.
|
+1,000,000 Why doesn't APNA allow nannies on their board? How about start with allowing nannies to even join the APNA membership? Funny how all the agencies on this forum repeatedly refuse to address this question. But they're more than happy to maintain the chokehold on INA. Shame on them. |
Why would nannies be allowed on the APNA board? It's called the Association of Professional Nanny Agencies. I've known several nannies who have attended APNA. |
|
INA was founded and is heavily supported by agencies. Why should they just be kicked out?
As a nanny who is transitioning to an NCS, I actually find the agency and business contacts really valuable. I attended several of the business sessions and learned a lot of useful information that will help me as I start my own business as an NCS. |
And INA is International Nanny Association NOT International nanny agency, so why are agencies on the board. |
I think calling the poster who is complaining without being capable of correctly typing out the INA's name a Bozo is a little harsh. Maybe she is just so focused on being mad that she can't focus on anything else! |
