When Do I Start Trying to Find a Nanny or Nanny Share?

Hi All!

I'm expecting my first child in late September and don't know when I should start seriously looking for a nanny or nanny share. I'm planning to go back to work April 1 of 2017 on a part time basis (3 days a week).

Any advice on when I should start looking? I have ZERO idea on what I'm doing!! I live in the DC area (Penn Quarter/Chinatown) so not sure if that makes a difference.

You're unlikely to find a long-term share if you only want 3 days. You might find another family who wants 3 days, 2 days for each child individually and one day shared.

If you won't need the nanny til April, start looking around Christmas or New Year's.
