Desperately want to hire a nanny from another country-it's the only real shot I have of giving my son exposure to our mother tongue. I don't speak it well enough to teach it to him. Without it, I fear he will grow up like I did-feeling left out of family events, embarrassed, and disenfranchised. DS is only one. If it is a multi-year process I am willing to do it. Anyone BTDT? |
Well, what is the country and the language? |
Nepal/Nepali |
Au pair maybe? |
I don't live in DC. Do au pairs want to live in Harrisburg Pa? Serious question. Or do they just want big cities? |
I think you should try sulekha.com where you can find south east Asian nannies.
Good luck. |
I had an Au Pair in Sugarcreek, Ohio. The middle of Amish country. I will admit that she was the only one. She had to drive up to Akron to meet friends. |
But au pairs generally move here to learn English. |
If you want your child to grow up learning Nepali and the culture--you should really move to Nepal. |
Is this Donald Trump? |
Unless you are here under a special visa, you cannot bring a foreign national into this country to work for you. If you care a US you citizen, even a naturalized citizen, you cannot bring a maid in from your country. |
I'm in a mid-sized city in Georgia, and our friends have an au pair from Germany. She had lots of friends, and even extended for a second term. |
That's really super, but how does it relate to this thread? |
she is answering the other question- whether au pairs will come to non-major cities. |
This is so mean. |
