Would you make the nanny pay? RSS feed

I am searching for a nanny for my infant child. There was an awesome nanny that we wanted but it didn't work. She had to reschedule our interview ( for good reasons) and then decided to put her job search on hold ( family illness). We bought her a background check ( $30) a week back. She has offered to send us a check to cover the cost. We don't know if we should tell her don't worry, or let her refund us?

I wouldn't.

If she is unemployed AND has a family member who is ill enough that she has put the job search on hold, it's likely she needs that $30 more than you do.

No I don't think you should make her pay, but it says a lot about her character that she offered. There is no guarantee that paying for a background check for someone means they will accept your job, so I don't really think you're entitled to payment for something you chose to purchase at your own risk.

Op here. I do think it says great things about her character too.

No, but the offer was nice. If she is asking for a copy for future employment, yes.

No, it would be tacky to accept her money unless of course she would like a copy for future job searches.

Can you not read? Or are you just lacking in basic impulse control?
