Hello. Looking for some helpful birthday ideas for our nanny. She's only been with us a month so we don't know a lot about her yet, but we love her and want to do something nice for her. If you gave your nanny a birthday gift and it seems to be appreciated I'd like to hear what it was.
Thanks so much! Erica ebgsbaby at gmail |

From a nanny:
90% of the time working for multiple families I got one week's pay cash inside of a birthday card + a gift/s I really appreciated the money. Even if it was $50 or whatever, your nanny would have a choice what to do with it - dinner, buy herself something she likes, massage or save. I liked having that option and I always wished families didn't get me gifts, because I'm picky and usually don't like what other people get me. The family I work for now (over 2 years) had a surprise birthday party for me - we're friends on FB, so they invited some people from my FB. I didn't get cash this time, but I got some gifts (they know exactly what I like) and a nice party. |

flowers and a gift certificate (starbucks, pedicure, amazon, etc...)

| How thoughtful of you, OP. |
| Since she's so new, OP, you may not know what she likes, so I'd get her an Amazon gift card, flowers, and a cake. Oh, and a card made by the kids. |

In all honesty OP she has only been w/your family briefly so I would gift her something sweet, but minimal.
Maybe a $50 gift card to a spa, restaurant, movie house or simply a VISA gift card. Or even better, w/her next pay check you can include $50-$100 extra for her birthday.
