Pay for live-in vs. live-out nanny

Hi there - could you please let me know what the price difference if any for a live-in vs. live-out nanny? Any insight is appreciated - thank you in advance!

Depends on the nanny and on your accommodations, not to mention the complete compensation package you're able to offer the nanny of your choice. Please do a search on this forum. There's at least one nanny I remember who charges extra to live-in.

Live-in nanny here. I evaluate each position independently, and my rates vary from $300-1,000+ per week, depending on a number of factors (micromanaging employer vs. authority to change things, hours working and on call, number and age of kids, tutoring, housekeeping, what type of accommodations and where they are in relation to the rest of the house, set or flexible schedule, 24 hour duty, number and type of pets, special needs, etc). My lowest rate was $350 for 20-30 hours per week (available hours were 6-9 am M-F, and 3-10 pm M-Th), flex schedule, two elementary age kids, no special needs, minimal pet care, no housekeeping, authority to change routines when I was on duty to make it more efficient. When they needed full day care, I was paid $11.50 per hour after the 30th.

14.03 here. No, $10 is too low if you want a professional. If you just want a college student, and are prepared for frequent switches, that may work. As I said, my range is $300-1000+, and that's fairly normal. For me, the most important factors are hours, flex vs set schedule and whether the employer is a micromanage.

My friends pay 12.50 to a live in nanny they've had for years. But she has a nice basement apartment with her own entrance, eats most of her meals with the family's grocery and has a relatively easy gig as the girls are in school most of the time.
