| What nanny agencies have you had success with? Both from nanny and employers? |
| I've given up on them long ago. |

Why? Also bump for OP's question. Anyone have any good experiences with any agencies?
I've contacted Nanny Poppinz. I was a little surprised about a couple of the provisions in the contract. In particular, they will only replace 1 nanny. Not that I expect to run off lots of nannies, but it is expensive - one month salary - so I would think they would help us find another nanny if 2 quit for whatever reason. Maybe this is common, dunno. So I have just reached out to Metro Parent Relief, who has a handful of good reviews online, and a couple good mentions on this forum. Any suggestions? Or thoughts on whether the terms in Nanny Poppinz' contract are reasonable (for this crazy place). |
What time frame do they give you the (only) one replacement? |
If the first one leaves within 180 days, they will attempt for 30 days to find a replacement. |
| I haven't used MetroParentRelief for a permanent hire, but have used them quite a bit for backup care, or coverage for extended periods when our nanny is on vacation. I've been quite pleased with them overall. |

OP again. Is it just me or an agency's fee of 15% of annual gross salary COMPLETELY INSANE???
So for a full-time nanny making say $20 / hour, that's an annual salary of $40,000. 15% of that is $6000. How the heck can anyone justify paying that when they can just go to care.com with a $45 premium membership and find candidates that way? Honest question. Do they figure if you're well-off enough to hire a nanny you dont' really care about another $5000 or $6000?? Anyone??? |
There's a reason why SO many opportunity hunters with zero experience in early childhood development open shop as a nanny agency. If you have good marketing skills, you'll make a fortune. Most of them say that becoming a mommy or daddy magically makes them qualified. So sad how many desperate parents believe that. |
This is awful. They really need to be regulated somehow. Many of them are simply scamming naive nannies and parents, and putting little children at risk for unstable, and often incompetent care. |
Complete lunacy. Does anyone here really pay that? |
