What is the going rate for 1 18-month old? Few days a week, with short term notice. We have gotten asked anything from 15-25 an hour.
I want to pay someone well but 25 seems high for one baby and its more a babysitting job than nanny... 15, 16, 17, 18? What's the real going rate? |
| My rate is 28, but you pay whoever, whatever you want. Done. |
| Ok troll |
Your question lacks adequate details. How many days per week? 3? 4? 5? What do you mean by short term notice? Will her schedule change from day to day? Do you mean that you will call her Monday night, ask her to work 6 hours on Tuesday, and expect her to be available? |
If you're pleased with the cheaper one, why not go with that??? |

If short term notice means you need someone willing to be "on call" during specific times and days, you will need to pay for availability.
IOW, if you need to be 100% sure Nanny will be at your home within X time after you call, and you know you may call her in Monday - Friday, and she may work anytime between 7am and 5pm, you need to pay her for 50 hours of availability. Your other option is to line up 5 or more babysitters so that you can hopefully have one of them be available when you need care. |
| Again these questions are really tough to answer since rate is also dependent on what part of the country you reside. |
| $22/hr. |
| $15-17/hr in DC. OT if over 40hrs/wk. |
If a $15/hr sitter is go enough for you, no need to pay more. |
