Au Pair Illegal Stay in America......

I have a friend who was an au pair from an eastern European country who recently finished her 1 year commitment and I suspect that she has stayed illegally in America. What is life like for au pairs who overstay in America? Thanks in advance.

As it is for every other illegal immigrant?
If she gets caught, she will get deported home and receive an entry ban plus will never be able to travel to the US under the VWP (if that applies to her country) again.

She could of course have changed her status to a visitor (B) visa or currently be in the process of changing her status which would make her legal. Unless of course she is working to finance her stay, which would be illegal.

I guess as long as she doesn't get sick, doesn't receive a speeding ticket or doesn't get otherwise caught...

A job that also includes all the protections due to worked under the FSLA (like minimum wage, overtime, etc.). It's almost impossible to enforce any of those for an illegal worker...

Every day of her life living in America, she will be looking over her shoulder wondering if she is going to get caught and deported (which means forever, because illegals can't get a visa after they are deported.)

She will be forced to take very low wage work from unscrupulous employers, who will probably mistreat her. The type of people who hire illegal immigrants are usually doing so because they want a bargain and someone they can make work 80hrs a week who won't be able to complain about it.
