Why do I owe money on my taxes!?

This has never happened before.I just prepared my taxes and it says I owe a few hundred dollars!? I've filed taxes with all my nanny families for the past 12 years. This has never happened.

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Turbotax says my fed deduction was only x amt. But when I cal my deductions from my checks it equals close to double the listed amt.

What are you claiming? Did you get a raise, and it boosted you into another income bracket?

What is listed on your W-2? Turbotax shouldn't be calculating how much was withheld, that is on your W-2.

OP, did you receive a W-2 from only one employer, or from multiple employers?

Taxes are all estimates. If not enough was deducted, you will owe. And taxes have gone up. You should consult a CPA. It sucks but that the way it goes....

My parents owe as well a few hundred and they typically get back around 1,500

Yup. Taxes are higher and if you don't have health insurance, you WILL have to pay a penalty this year.

This. If $X was withheld, that's the number that should be in TurboTax.
