I posted on other board but someone suggested this might be more helpful.
We are looking to hire a 24/7 infant care specialist (baby nurse, doula, night nanny, ect) for approx 6-7 weeks. We would like to avoid agencies where they match you and you don't have a say in who you will have carig for your child. Questions are any one done this for work and if so what is your experience do you enjoy it? What can your clients do to make it more rewarding for you? What is your schedule in a 24 hr period to make sure you are well rested as well? What kind of breaks do you take? Do you sleep while baby sleeps? Do you see your loved ones while on assignment? What extras of any did you do besides caring for the new baby? What do you charge for a 24 hour period? |
| No one can work 247 and be alert. You need a minimum of 2 12 hour shifts and it will cost you plenty. |

Not true pp. Look at let mommy sleep or other infant care companies. They all offer around the clock care. Even post partum doulas will do 24 hour care. Usually the person sleeps in the room with the baby. Sleep when the baby sleeps. Wake up care and go back to sleep. When the baby is awake and mom wants to bond or family wants time that is when the specialist can tend to bottles, logs and laundry. Then every day they are entitled to a 4-5 hour break uninterrupted.
Our schedule was as follows- 8pm baby goes down and doulas showered and ate dinner and relaxed. 11pm baby up for a feeding with doula and then they both went to sleep. 3-4am- again up with baby for a feeding and care and back to sleep 8 am- up and hand off to parents for a feeding or bonding after a feeding. 8-10- doulas would do baby related duties 10am-1pm- baby went down and doula napped 1-4- doula was on baby duty 4-8- doula was off for personal time |
Whey have a baby? |

You obviously don't have a child or have never had a medical condition from pregnancy. I suffered a stroke and was not able to stand let alone do anything for my baby. My husband used all his leave to take care of me and our baby. We don't have any living grandparents or family nearby. Our doula saved our lives until we could make other arrangements.
They were paid more than well and we will always be grateful. You pp are a nasty human being |

Just seconding what 12:04 noted.
Also seconding what 12:38 noted. |

I haven't heard of any agency where they send someone without you choosing them. The agencies I have worked with all give families a selection of nanny profiles to choose from, the family picks some to interview, and then the family makes a decision. (Possibly after doing trials with some candidates.)
|
Many infant specialists/doulas will start with the family about a week before the birth, getting the nursery around, teaching the parents basics, etc. That's not a trial, nor is there any way to do a trial day with each person as the baby comes home from the hospital. On the other hand, the family can spend as long as they need to interview as many people as they want, so that they are completely comfortable with whoever they hire, before the baby is even born. |
Read the bold. 24, around the clock care....but oh wait they get a 4-5 hour break uninterrupted? That isn't 24 hour, around the clock care then.
|
| They can't use that time to go home tonsee their family or really do much. They can barely see a movie and grab dinner so yes it's a 24/7 job. |
| Hi. I would like to recommend Lauranda Hippeard. Lauranda came to us highly recommended and has years of experience with preemie twins and triplets. Lauranda's contact info is 571-264-4306 Warm Regards Amy! |

I am not baby nurse but I taking care of my MB's baby 24/7 ALONE! Baby Y is 2 months old. I was with him when he just 6 days old. One word to describe abt how I feel abt this job -> Super duper tiring!
He woke up every 3 hrs for feeding sometimes 4 hrs gap between feeding. Took 40 mins from feeding to put him back to sleep (change diapers, burping etc) Salary ~ $1500 a month. Am I crazy? I think so. I'm going to give my resignation letter end of this month. |
Are you self promoting while pretending to be a mb lauranda?? Every single doulas/baby nurse/night nanny thread you post then same exact thing. People aren't that dumb. |
I noticed the same thing. She could simply recommend herself. |
wow. if you do all of this, you should get to keep the baby. |
