I am at a loss. I haven't received a raise in 3 years. I go above and beyond daily. I work late, come in early if needed and cook/entertain visiting family. I am beginning to feel as if I am being taken for granted. I know there were some financial issues 3 years ago but now they have seemed to improved. I've been in this industry for 20 years and never gone this long without increases. Any advice? Thanks all!

Have you asked for a raise?

Why have you let it go for 3 years? Most families won't bring up the annual raise, so you need to self-advocate.

You don't deserve a raise, you earn one.

Tell them what you want. And yes, of course they're taking advantage of you big time. Get ready to move on.

I ask for annual raises at the time our contract renews. Have you asked?

Why would they give you a raise when you already do absolutely everything they want? You're your own worst enemy. Time to find a new job and this time stop vei,g a doormat.

Do they compensate you in other ways? We give two larger bonuses a year (not including Xmas).

Thanks all

I've never had to ask for raises ...ever. Previous employers have always Given at my anniversary. The one raise given by the current was automatically given when another child was born.

I receive a bonus at Christmas and a nice gift on my birthday. That's about it.

I'll be asking for a raise after the holidays.

Last month I told the two families I nanny for that I will be raising my rates next school year. That gives them plenty of time to either get used to the idea and set aside funds if they want to keep me, or make other arrangements if they can no longer afford me. I have been working for both families since last summer.

You are totally right!!

I would feel the same way OP.

You have more than proven your worth to this family and they should compensate you accordingly.

New Year = New Salary.

I would wait until after the holiday season dies down, then request a raise. After three yrs, you are more than entitled to it.
