My wife and I are joining with another local couple (both living in McLean Gardens) to hire a nanny for our two newborns. We welcome any recommendations for someone that could start in mid-March, however this email is being sent to request general nanny information.

We found a wide range of pay rates and responsibilities and were hoping some of the families currently employing a nanny would be kind enough to fill us in on these details. For example, are they paid hourly or salary? Rate or Salary? What types of benefits are common, how many days off for sick and personal time, et cetera? Are they comfortable going back and forth between two homes?

Live-out nannies are always hourly. Live-in nannies who may have less boundaries between work hours and off hours sometimes negotiate for salary instead of an hourly rate.

For twins, starts at $18/hour. For shares, start is $18-20/hour, as long as the infants are only a few months apart in age. If they are between 6 and 12 months apart, it makes it a lot more difficult.
