| Today is nanny's last day w/ us before the holidays. We have a nice card w/ full week's pay in cash that we'll give her at the end of the day when we're both home at the same time to give it to her. But all of a sudden I'm feeling like we should give her something to open! If you are a nanny, would you prefer a little something to open or would you be fine with just cash? |

last year my nanny family didn't even give me a card to open. my mb hurried and wrote in a bonus (75% of salary) really quick on my paycheck. I had bought small gifts for both of them and made gifts for the kids. It was nice to get a bonus but a card or word of thoughtfulness would've been appreciated. no gift is necessary either but it shows how much they can and think of you. this year my family put my cash bonus (so it was calculated and withdrawn beforehand) inside of a new makeup bag and gave me a locket with both kids pics inside! And a card.
not hard to say which i will stay in touch with in the future |
| No gift is necessary, though it might be appreciated. |
| Not necessary. The cash is fine. |
| It's not necessary, but you should definitely make sure that the card has something heartfelt, even if it's just a sentence or two saying how much she means to your family. Appreciation goes along way! |

Cash.
Just treat your nanny with respect the whole year. |

I bet all the nannies on here would be in full agreement here, or anyone else who works hard.
Cold Hard Ca$h Baby. I don't care if I can't unwrap it, as long as I can spend it. Generous employers for sure. I am sure your nanny will be thrilled. Merry Xmas. |
