| It is not official Federal holiday. Many people that get federal holidays off have to work. My DH will work. I have it off, and nanny has it off. However, I don't get Veterans Day off for example, so I don't give it off to the nanny, but DH is off. It's one day a year he can relax and have "me time" which usually translates in catching up on house projects, and nanny is making a face that she has to work... I have to remind her that it's either that or she won't have day after thanksgiving off... |

| I just went ahead and told them I needed the entire week off. Grandparents came to town and I can't deal when grandma follows me around. If be stress eating all week lol. Need room for turkey |

| Nanny here. I have the day off. I negotiated this into my contract. I also get Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve - but don't get days like Columbus, Veterans, MLK, Presidents Days. |

| Live-in nanny here. Most of the time, I work it, because the kids are home and one or both parents have things they want to do for at least part of the day. I don't care about having it off, so it's not a big deal to me. |
