Nanny's gift to DC

Our son's nanny is very generous with him. She always buys him books and tons of stuff on birthdays and Christmas. However, she also gives him t-shirts and ball caps from her alma mater. Yes, our nanny attended a better university (and well known) than DH or I did but it feels wrong for our son to be wearing her alma mater.

I would totally ignore it. It's just clothes and your son will outgrow them in no time at all. What impact do you think a logo on a shirt will have?

I'd thank her and let him wear the t-shirts as sleeping shirts. But we have a policy of not letting our kids be walking advertisements. I'd also ask her to stop buying him things, but we're on the minimalist side.

Is she using her own money or your credit card/cash for stuff for your son to buy them? This would bug me if it was all going on my cc. If she is buying stuff on her own, then whatever. Did you ever read "5 love languages?" Some people show affection with gifts. For them, it's like a big hug to another person, or an "I love you" to a third person.

She is too good to be your nanny and you are intimidated. Fire her and hire someone who went to a 3rd tier college so you can feel superior to "the help."

I get it, OP. I want my kids to wear my or DH's alma mater only too. But is this a hill you want to die on?

She went to a top college (it seems from the post) and is still a nanny. Thus you can save your money in worrying about where DC goes, seems like a win! MB and DB went to X state school are employers, nanny went to YXXX or HXXXXXX and it employee.

If this is the worst complaint that you have regarding your son's nanny, then count your blessings OP and congratulations on winning the nanny lotto!

She cares so much for your son. This is quite obvious to me.

And for your insecurities over which college had more prestige... This shouldn't even be an issue for you.

I hate to sound harsh, but this doesn't even count as a gripe in my eyes.
