Leaving the house with the children RSS feed

If you drive the children you care for either in your own vehicle or the families, what essential items do you have with you at all time? My family is putting together a kit for the car and I would like to make sure I have all my bases covered.
Some of the obvious things that come to mind are first aid kit, ice packs, water, snacks, hats, sunscreen.
I would appreciate anything else that's maybe unusual but come in handy for you in the past.
Thanks for your time.

Depends a bit on the age of the kids.

For mine, who are 4, we keep wipes, paper towel, extra plastic bags, a change of clothes, and a small plastic container (for occasional car sickness.)

I also try to keep a dry snack stocked, like pretzels or crackers or something, maybe a toy or two or some crayons in case we get delayed somewhere, and an old blanket to use for spontaneous picnics etc...

Don't keep sunscreen in the car. The prolonged heat could lessen its affects.

I am not sure the ages, but I will try my best.

Extra bottled water, baby wipes, diapers (if applicable), a blanket or towel to sit on outdoors or use to change diapers on, maybe rash cream, hand sanitizer, a change of clothing, an extra pair of socks, shoes, a jacket and some books and fun toys.
