They told me to come in with strep throat

I have all the classic signs of strep throat and want to get tested ASAP. MB told me to come in anyway and get tested another day. My charge is only 4 months and strep is highly contagious. I'm 98% sure I have strep. It also very bad to wait to be treated for strep. I'm very annoyed at this point.

Your MB/DB are being very irresponsible. Wear a face mask and wash your hands every 30 minutes today. Get to the doctor as soon as possible after work today (even a urgent care clinic) and get tested.

That sounds pretty bad. I don't know what I'd do in your shoes. I do know those CVS Minute Clinics can run a rapid strep test for you, on the tiny chance you'd have time to get to one today.

OP here. After some negotiating I was able to let them let me go get checked this morning.

Your employers are assholes, but why are you being a doormat? I gather that in order for them to have said to come in, you must have asked permission to get tested? This should not be phrased as a request. Vacation is a request. Leaving early is a request. Needing to go to the doctor is not a request, you just inform them of what is happening. They don't own you and it is unreasonable to expect that your illnesses will schedule themselves at your employers' convenience.

I wouldn't have made it an option. "Unfortunately, I am unable to come in today. I need to get tested immediately, and do not feel comfortable coming to work where I could possibly get your infant sick from a highly contagious infection. I apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you updated."

Why did you ask if you should come in? You should have TOLD them that you are going to dr. to have throat swab for strep. Your health shoukd ve paramount to you not the inconvenience of these parents.

I so have strep and no I'm not. I told them I can't go in today and tomorrow. This is a new job ( 5 weeks) so I can see why they are upset. I'm going to polish my resume incase they let me go.

Wow...So they prefer to subject their precious baby to a possible strep infection vs. one of them stay home a day or two.
