Looking for a nanny agency for special needs childcare RSS feed

Anonymous
My DS is 6 years old and is nonverbal with sensory issues. In the last we've hired au pairs, private nannies, and went to daycare. At this point, nothing seems to work for a more long-term childcare needs. Does anyone recommend a nanny agency that specializes in special needs childcare services? Thanks!

How much are you paying?

Any good agency would have a list of SN nannies, OP. Do you need the nanny to have special training or education or is just amazingly patient and experienced enough?

It depends if she will be a live-in or live-out.

Any 2 of the 3 would work. Since my son is non-verbal, patience is very important but at the same time if the candidate has knowledge and/or experience I believe it will be beneficial for both parties. I've had au pairs and private nannies that have been patient and understanding, but no experience to any sign language or any other type of training on how to deal with a non verbal child. But, I also a lot depends on the individual's personality and of my son likes her.

Why don't you try one of the universities like Maryland at their speech pathology school or Gallaudet?
