As one sees so often on this forum, *most* parents are constantly looking to take advantage of the nanny.
Maximize what they get, minimize what they give. "My nanny doesn't have enough work to stay busy every. single. minute. What else should I tell her to do?" I find this behavior despicably disgusting when it comes to the care of your child. Really shameful. And so goes the revolving nanny door. Someone told these parents a dirty little lie, that they're entitled to high quality child care for a very cheap price. Wait, it's called "affordable" care that they demand. Affordable, so they can still afford everything else they're entitled to. Who do they think they're fooling? |
| Let me tell you, that's not all you see on this forum. Crazy, self-entitled know-it-all nannies are a dime a dozen here. Look, there's one now--it's you. |
| I like to eat cat food (live-in) |
If you don't want an expert, get a sitter... not a nanny. There's even a special sitter category for you on this site. GL. |
| Oh, we have a nanny. She makes 25 an hour and is very happy. She is nothing like you. |
Cat food is expensive - tuna is cheaper now. |
Oh, good to hear *some* nannies are earning the "how dare she!" wage, much to the disappointment of *many* parents here. And oh yes, doesn't *every* parent want to think the nanny is "oh so happy"? |
We provide a good wage and a good job. If she's not happy, that's on her. We don't need to provide bliss as part of our employment package. |
Then I guess you aren't the pp saying her nanny is happy. In the DC area, $25-35/hr is typically considered a decent wage, $18-20/hr is not enough for a good nanny. |
What a crock. |
| High quality private duty childcare is the most expensive. |

Hope this made you feel better OP.
You'll never get what you want in an actual job, clearly, so hopefully this kind of screaming into the wind is cathartic for you. |
If you want a 25-35 wage then get a new job. One in an office that requires a degree. An advanced one in this day in age. I'd love to make 400k/yr, and no matter how much I cry and think I deserve it, I clearly don't because no one has offered to pay me that for my skill set. This is how life works. |
| I don't know what you're talking about. I've never had a 'DCUM boss'. All but one of my NF have been nice and treated me with respect, a lot of them were very generous, most of them were very appreciative of what I do and several of them have become dear friends for life. DCUM isn't indicative of real life at all. |
You are very lucky. While I have had wonderful, generous and exceptional employers in the past, I do have two very difficult employers right now. DCUM can be indicative of real life - my life currently in point of fact. |
