Older child purposefully damaged belongings

If your older child (8), damaged something of nanny's on purpose, and you said you would fix/replace it, how long would you take to do so?

What is the object? Is this something that you need to send to the repair shop? If so, then I'd reimburse as soon as given the receipt. If it's something I'm supposed to buy, then I'd do it as soon as you tell me where to get a new one and any specifications/add-ins you had for your device.

I'd also have my kid earning the money back, but that's a separate issue.

Thanks, that's what I thought. It's a necklace and will have to be replaced. I was told a week ago when it happened that it would be taken care of, but no mention of it or attempts to rectify the situation since. I'm wondering if I should bring it up.

You should be able to wear jewelry around an EIGHT year old without them PURPOSEFULLY breaking it. It's not like he was 2 and it was an accident.

No matter what happened it is obvious this nanny is not in control and should probably leave this job to a professional.

The child in question is eight-years-old and easily could have taken the necklace from the nanny's bag. We professionals wait until all the information is on before we make a judgement.

The people that respond to these forums are just crazy. She nanny's an 8 year old... She should be able to wear jewelry of any kind.
