I just received a 6 weeks notice from my family. today is Monday so should I expect to be paid for Monday, September 7th

MB here. No, I imagine they mean to pay you for six full weeks starting today (and have you work those days), so through September 4th.

So if they give her notice on Thursday they will still pay her through September 4th? Im a nanny and i would expect to be paid to Monday as well.

Well I guess OP should ask the parents for clarification, but since they told her on a Monday morning, assuming she works Monday through Friday, they likely mean to pay her for six full weeks including today, which would be through September 4th.

If someone gave some a six-week notice on a Thursday morning, that would be weird and you would probably need to ask for clarification on what exactly that means.

But if you give someone notice on a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning, it would be pretty clear to me that meant six weeks beginning that Monday.

But it doesn't matter what we think - ask.

6 weeks notice is incredibly generous. You want another day?

Most people fire people and have it become the last day of work with some kind of severance pay, much less than 6 weeks. Count your blessings.

Haha you made me laugh. Op here, I do have another job lined up and I knew that was going to happen since June 2012 when I started to work and knew that my position will end the the kid starts preschool
