| I got an email early this morning from a job I applied to late at night. The mom asked if I could meet ASAP. I met her one hour after our phone interview. I get to the interview and the first thing she says is " We are looking for next Tues. start date. We are interviewing a bunch of people all this week". I'm confused as to why she would want to meet ASAP when she is interviewing several more candidates all week. I was their first interview. Excuse my lack of experience, but why have me meet ASAP but you are seeing others all week. I don't see what the benefit is. It wasn't like I couldn't meet today opposed to rushing around yesterday to make it there. |
Because she wants to fit in a bunch of interviews in a single week and only has immediate time slots available. She had already scheduled the later interviews. |

You may have been the exception in being available so soon for an interview. In her world the fact that she needs someone to start next week means she only has a week to interview candidates, hold second interviews, check references, maybe have a candidate or two meet the child(ren), etc...
That short a time frame would put me in a huge rush also OP and mean that I'd want to do everything asap. The fact that you were responsive and available may work significantly in your favor, and it seems like she is being very upfront with you about the process. |
| RED FLAG. OP! Listen to your inner voice. Something is wrong. |

It is because she is in dire need of someone stat and she just wants to meet with ALL prospective candidates now so she can make a good decision ASAP.
I hate it when parents tell me they are interviewing other candidates for some odd reason, it makes me feel like a statistic to them. Odd, I know, but I cannot help how I feel about this. |
