New to forum. Would nannies ask for more to be at my house to start at 5:30am and end at 3:30pm-4pm M-F? 6 month old baby and a preschooler. Would have to drop off and pick up preschooler nearby. Car to do preschool dropoff provided. This could work for a mom nanny who wants to start and end early.
What would be the hourly range hypothetically in Vienna/Falls Church for this? 1.5 Overtime rates would be paid after 40 hrs. With whatever is standard in terms of days off. - How about if 5:30am start were only twice a week? Would it attract more interest or would the rates go up or down in any way? - Would it attract more interest, would rates change if the house were 10 min walking distance from a metro station? We are considering moving to such a house. Thanks!!!! |
If it matters older child would be a 3.5 year old girl, already potty trained. |
| No idea what kind of nanny you want/can afford. But I can't imagine walking to your house from the metro in the dark. You need someone who can afford a car. |
| Can't help you with rates but I would take a job with those hours, even with the walk that early. |
| I'd be interested in this schedule as I like to get off work early. My email is mommyisom@gmail.com |
Come to think of it metro doesn't open early enough for someone to use it to that early. So metro accessibility would be a nonfactor. |
Op here. I keeo on thinking of stuff (sorry, new at this). If 5:30am is only twice a week it would mean my boss would let me telecommute those three days and I would need 11 hrs of coverage those days that start at 5:30am and 8 hrs a day for the other three days and they can start the 8 hrs anytime from 6-9 am. |
| Crazy, inconvenient hours but if you pay enough, you'll find someone. |
|
I would LOVE a 5:30 AM start time! There are some early risers out there who would prefer to miss the traffic!
Rate ALWAYS depends on what you want. College graduate? Legal? Experience? |
|
49 hours a week with a 5:30am start time 3 days a week is a bit rough... Metro isn't a factor, they open at 5am so the nanny would be limited to only being 2-4 stops away.
What rate are you considering? |
|
11 hour days with a 5:30 AM start will be rough for a lot of people, but as long as you are offering a fair salary you should find someone.

I don't think you will have an issue with the early start time since there are some nannies who actually prefer to get an early start to the day so they still have some free time to enjoy after work.
Perhaps to see the dentist, get their oil changed on their cars, etc. |
What would be the range of fair for college grad, legal, 5 plus years of experience? Two days starting at 5:30am for 11 hours, three days starting anytime before 9am for 8 hrs. 46 hours total. What if I broaden to high school grad, legal, 5 plus years of experience? |
